Portfolio access is not the same as asset access
Meta distinguishes access to a business portfolio from access to individual assets, such as an ad account. A person may need to be assigned the relevant asset and task-based permissions. Available labels and options vary by interface and asset.
See Meta's guidance on business assets and task-based access and business portfolio access.
Use the permissions the job needs
Full control and partial access are distinct settings. Agree which people, partner businesses and assets need access; avoid requesting broad control when task-based access is sufficient. Confirm exact options in the current Meta interface rather than relying on an older role label.
Security checklist
- Confirm the intended business portfolio and ad account identifiers.
- Use your own authentic business and personal account information.
- Agree who can manage campaigns, funding and access changes.
- Review assigned people and partners after onboarding and when staff change.
- Never share passwords, access tokens or two-factor codes.
- Document how access should be removed when an engagement ends.
Access does not establish ownership or special privileges
Agency-provided account access does not make you the owner of the supplier's account. It does not bypass Meta reviews or guarantee availability. Confirm responsibilities in your written engagement.
